Leadership and Involvement

Being part of the Society of Peer Mentors (SPM) at LSU has been one of my favorite ways to stay involved on campus. I’ve served as both Secretary and Public Relations Chair, where I helped with communication, planning, and keeping things organized. One of the highlights of my involvement was helping host “Geaux Engineering” during Welcome Week—a fun and energetic event that welcomes incoming freshmen and helps them feel at home in the college. I also got to take part in K–12 STEM outreach and support robotics mentoring. SPM gave me the chance to grow as a leader, connect with other students, and support the next generation of engineers in a hands-on, meaningful way.

Tau Beta Pi is a national engineering honor society that recognizes students for their academic achievement and involvement. As a member of the LSU chapter, I’ve participated in several service opportunities throughout the Baton Rouge community, supporting local organizations and campus events. I also served as the Corresponding Secretary, where I managed communication between our chapter and the national Tau Beta Pi headquarters. This role allowed me to stay engaged with the chapter’s activities and contribute to its organization. Being part of Tau Beta Pi has been a great way to grow professionally and connect with other engineering students.

The Biological Engineering Student Organization (BESO) at LSU is a community for students in the Biological Engineering program to connect, learn, and grow together. As a member, I’ve participated in meetings and service opportunities that have helped me engage more with my department and peers. BESO hosts events featuring guest speakers, career discussions, and professional development tips, which have given me valuable insight into the many paths within Biological Engineering. Being involved in BESO has helped me stay connected with classmates, meet faculty and industry professionals, and explore different opportunities within the field.
